Orphans No More

This book, outside of scripture, of course, has been one of the most significant books I have ever read, that the Holy Spirit has used to transform me.  It is the same for David and I would like to propose this has been the same for our 2 sons in law, Gerard and Jolan.

David was a literal orphan, given up by his mum in Ireland in 1968.  My father left when I was 4 years old.  This orphan spirit, though with us from birth, was firmly entrenched into our identity from a very tender age.  When we were born again, in January 1993, the greatest “feeling” we both experienced was that there was so much more to this life that Father intended for us.  We could also see with almost acute clarity, that our orphanhood was deceitfully disguised when we met and fell in love.  It was, in 1993, after 3 years of marriage, what was nearly destroying us.  Unfortunately for us, it took until 2002, when we met Dudley and Betsy Hall, that we had no real notion of what this “orphanity” really was.  We had spent years since our salvation event, doing everything “we could do”, to heal that deep wound within, individually and as a couple.  I am so thankful to Bruce and Dennis for their teaching and training in this since we first met them in 1998, especially Bruce’s language around being a “son and daughter of the living God”, that prepared our hearts and renewed our minds so that when we met Dudley and Betsy, their deeply insightful and revelationary (prophetic) words to us, penetrated to a place that we “saw” a true glimpse of what sonship may look like for us, now and eternally. I am not saying things changed overnight, but they did begin to change, and we began to heal in ways that we had only dared to imagine.  Suddenly, our whole identity became transformed to, “I am the daughter of the living God. David is the son of the living God”.  Everything changed.  Everything.

Since that time, Dudley wrote this book in 2011 which he personally sent to us as a gift – and what a gift it was.  In reading this now, alongside of you all, my deepest most precious and urgent prayer for us all is that we are all touched by the Spirit of God and that our true identity as “sons and daughters of the living God” becomes known by us all.  This truth is the core of who I am. I cannot imagine going back from this, ever.  It is everything.  I hope and pray it becomes your everything too.  I love you.
