Let’s Make Unborn Babies Great Again
I know – some of you may cry out and say, “oh no, not this issue again.” But folks we cannot walk away from this issue. The Political Left Wing in the U.S. are campaigning hard for the right to terminate unwanted pregnancies at birth (the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors bill, H.R. 962). Although the attempts are said to be doomed at the moment, the Left has promised to continue their campaign and make it a major issue should they win the elections in 2020.
This has inspired tens of thousands of posts all over Facebook and other Social media outlets, both for and against. One could spend an eternity entering into various debates about it. One comment that really caught my attention said,
“Only in America can you murder a child at birth but go to jail if you spank them!”
Although we, as followers of Christ, should not need convincing that life is sacred, nor of the now accepted biological fact that life begins at conception, I wonder how many of us consider this whole argument on the basis of what Scripture teaches about life.
Although a human life begins to “materialize” at the point of conception, the child was already formed and planned in the heart and mind of God way before that. God tells Jeremiah that,
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Note that there are two concepts here. The first is that God had already “conceived” Jeremiah in His heart and also, that He had planned the timing and the calling of Jeremiah’s life. This is not only for so called Biblical characters. In Ephesians 2:10 the Apostle Paul makes this statement for all humanity. He says,
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
Note that these works were prepared for each of us, before we arrived on the planet.
My Key Point: Unborn babies are great.
They are created in the image of God and have a calling and a purpose that is designed to bring glory to God and something amazing to this planet that is special, unique and that all humanity would benefit by. We need them – every one of them. This world needs them. Sure – we will meet them in eternity – but we need them now.
Let us do all we can to protect them, not only in their mother’s womb, but also on the birthing table and as they grow up as vulnerable young people, trusting us for their well-being and protection.
I want to close on a comment made by Mother Teresa. When asked by Hilary Clinton (a fierce supporter of all forms of abortion), why there were not more women in top jobs and prominent places, Mother Theresa replied, “I am not sure – maybe they have all been aborted”!! Go Mother Theresa.
Just saying, that’s all.
